ISR Explained

ABOUT ISR

Infant Swimming Resource (ISR) Is A Nationally Recognized Comprehensive Drowning Prevention Program With A Specific Mission Of Preventing Childhood Drowning Through Specialized Aquatic Survival Training.

“The commitment we made to parents over 45 years ago, to reach the next child before he or she reaches the water alone, is honored daily to achieve our mission that Not One More Child Drowns.”

ISR is the product of more than 45 years of dedicated research and development to solve the preventable tragedy of infant and childhood drowning. Over 200,000 children have been through the ISR program, with more than 7 million safe and effective lessons to our credit. In addition, ISR has over 800 documented cases of children using ISR’s survival swimming techniques to save themselves from drowning.

What Qualifications Does An ISR Instructor Have?

ISR Instructors are the most highly trained and qualified Instructors in any swimming program in the country. Becoming an ISR instructor is a serious undertaking as each candidate is carefully screened through extensive, multiple interviews in order to qualify for the training. The ISR instructor training program includes a minimum of 80 hours of hands-on, supervised in-water training working with students.

Each instructor is also academically trained and tested in areas such as child psychology, physiology, anatomy and behavioral science. In addition, all ISR Instructors are also required to maintain current CPR and First Aid certification, and must complete annual ISR Instructor reviews and recertification to ensure that their skills and techniques continue to meet ISR’s high safety standards.
